Manchester-based designer and illustrator Sam Tomson is recognized for his grim, bold, and emotive artworks. His expertise and refined taste led him to specialize in delivering high-quality, unique designs for the music industry. His designs capture the essence of both the past and the future, blending elements of retro-futuristic themes with vibrant, smooth gradients.
The music industry has always had a close relationship with the design world, with each era and genre creating its own distinct visual style. Visual cues play a crucial role in connecting artists or bands with their audience, whether it’s a metal band’s recognizable logo or the unique identity of genres like progressive rock, surf rock, hip-hop, or punk rock. We are witnessing a new generation of designers collaborating with the music industry and bringing a new taste to the field.
Over the past 7 years, Sam Tomson has been professionally involved in various design projects across different fields. But he always finds a space between design and music at the same weight. As a result, he has created event branding, merchandise designs, event posters, logo development, packaging for records and cassettes, as well as assets for promotional social media campaigns.
Sam Tomson previously worked with clients including Die Ziet, John Hamon for the Pompidou Centre, Studio 1520, and in addition to these, wide ranges of independent music labels such as Astralwerks, System Olympia, Moth Lan, Speedy Wunderground, and Bakkheia.
